Session 1
Aims of First Aid – the three P’s
Preserve Life Prevent the situation from worsening Promote recovery
Priorities of treatment, Emergency Action Plan
Level of Response, The recovery position, CPR
Drowning, Breathing Difficulties
Session 2
Failure of the circulation – shock.
Control of Bleeding, Internal Bleeding, Recognition, Signs of shock
Cardeogaenic Shock
Session 3
Head Injuries, Concussion - brain shock, Compression- pressure on the brain, Fractured Skull
Immersion Hypothermia and Cold Shock
Sunstroke, heat exhaustion. Children – febrile convulsion.
Seasickness and Dehydration
Seizures
Session 4
Fractures, Including spinal injuries. Modified recovery position – log roll.
Advice and Assistance by VH Radio
Medivac – Evacuation by Helicopter
