RYA First Aid £135.00
A course teaching the basics of first aid with particular emphasis on the situations which may be encountered on a small boat at sea. You will find the StJohn's Ambulance/Red Cross first aid manual a useful reference book while doing the course and for future reference. It is a one day course run at East Anglian Sea School premises at Suffolk Yacht Harbour, Levington, Suffolk.

Aims of First Aid – the three P’s
Preserve Life Prevent the situation from worsening Promote recovery
Priorities of treatment, Emergency Action Plan
Level of Response, The recovery position, CPR
Drowning, Breathing Difficulties
Failure of the circulation – shock.
Control of Bleeding, Internal Bleeding, Recognition, Signs of shock
Head Injuries, Concussion - brain shock, Compression- pressure on the brain, Fractured Skull
Immersion Hypothermia and Cold Shock
Sunstroke, heat exhaustion. Children – febrile convulsion.
Seasickness and Dehydration
Fractures, Including spinal injuries. Modified recovery position – log roll.
