Terms and Conditions
In the following sections ‘we’ and ‘us’ refers to The Tiller School of Navigation and ‘you’ refers to you, our customer.
Payments, despatch timings and VAT
Course fees are due, in full, at the time of enrolment. Our UK prices include VAT at 20%. If the VAT regulations change then fees and prices will be adjusted accordingly. If you are resident in the EC VAT area you will have to pay VAT at the ruling UK rate on despatch. You do not have to pay VAT if you live outside the VAT area but may be liable to local taxes or duties - we have no knowledge of them and cannot advise you.
Pay by credit or debit card (i.e. Visa, MasterCard, Delta, Maestro (was Switch) or Solo) and, whenever possible, we aim to despatch your course within three working days. We will obtain authorisation and debit your card on the day that your course is dispatched
Pay by cheque and we normally despatch your course five working days after receipt of your order.
Delivery, insurance and related problems
For mainland UK addresses our course fees include ‘next working day’ delivery by courier. Note that our courier may charge extra and / or delivery may take longer for some addresses, notably if you live north of a line roughly between Glasgow and Edinburgh, in Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands. Please check with us when ordering. Your notification period (for warranty or cancellation purposes) starts from the ‘delivery date’. This is the date and time that your course was signed for (or delivered according to your instructions). Neither our courier nor we can accept liability if it is lost or damaged after that time. Lost material will be replaced at a charge.
Please let us know within 7 working days of the delivery date if anything in your course is damaged, faulty or missing. We will repair, replace or supply the item(s) in question.
Tiller warranty and course swap option
If you wish to cancel your enrolment for any reason you must notify us in writing (by letter, fax or email) no later than seven working days after your delivery date. You must return the goods at your expense and in good condition. We advise you to insure them in transit.
Once we have received the course package we will refund the money you have paid within 7 working days. We will deduct our costs in sending you the course, any costs incurred in its return (which we will arrange upon request) and normal RRP for any items that have been used, are damaged or missing according to the packing list enclosed with the course.
This is the full extent of our liability to you.
Tiller’s course swap option is similar. Tell us within 10 days of your delivery date and we will exchange your course for another. We will agree your requirements with you, together with any extra payment or refund that may be due, prior to the exchange. Your new course will be dispatched once we have received the original back from you.
Although great care has been taken in preparing our course material we can accept no responsibility or liability for any errors, omissions or alterations, or for consequences ensuing upon the use of, or reliance on, any information in a course.
The training charts and practice tables MUST NOT BE USED FOR REAL NAVIGATION.
All significant changes and error corrections to the course material are logged and we will provide information about them on request.
The content of any Tiller course package may be altered without notice as part of our policy of continuous improvement.
In the unlikely event (it hasn’t happened yet) that you need an unusually large amount of support we reserve the right to make a charge after giving you one week’s written notice.
