The Tiller School of Navigation and Seamanship
We are a leading RYA training centre and the provision of correspondence courses on a worldwide basis is our principal business.
The ‘Tiller School of Navigation and Seamanship’ was established in 1989 and was one of the first RYA training centers to specialise in correspondence courses. We deliver friendly and professional training for yachtsmen and women and our aim is to provide the 'personal touch' that makes all the difference when studying new subjects.
Our principal Peter Dawson is an RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor and teaches both practical and theory courses in the Canaries and in the Solent. With his wife, they sailed their yacht Silver Wind, a Colvic Victor 40' ketch, from the UK to La Gomera. She was recently returned to the UK by Peter where she is now for sale (the yacht that is).
In a previous existence he was a chartered surveyor but he gave it up to follow his passion for sailing and has no regrets whatsoever.
Our experience with classroom, practical and correspondence courses is a powerful one. A major benefit is that it helps us to keep our correspondence courses current and realistic.
Add consistently high ratings for our courses and a near 100% pass rate (we don't give up on our students) you can see why so many people choose Tiller to ‘put them on the right course’.
